Spring is here and as we celebrate this new season of rejuvenation, we also want to welcome you to our new website! It’s an exciting time for us, as we have an attractive new “home” to share all sorts of news about agritourism in Michigan.
For those who are new to us, we are a non-profit association with a goal of keeping family farms sustainable, supporting local economic growth, and providing rich and unique experiences for visitors to make lasting memories.
Michigan is an amazing place and we are proud of our agricultural roots. Most people don’t realize the diversity of agricultural products that are grown here and the unique climate created by the Great Lakes. Who knew that peaches could be grown this far north? How could it be that Michigan is just behind California in the diversity of crops that grow here?
Yes, it’s true! Michigan may be know as the birthplace of the automobile, but it is also recognized as the leading producer of cultivated blueberries, tart cherries, potatoes, dry beans, pickling cucumbers, and squash in the nation. Michigan also ranks third in apple production and in the number of community farmers markets, and there’s so much more!
Roadside stands and markets, historical cider mills and u-pick orchards have long been offering visitors an opportunity to visit farms and taste local produce. Today, more and more, farms and other agricultural-related destinations are inviting the public to stop in for a tour, enjoy educational activities, and experience farm-to-table events.
This website has been designed to be a helpful resource to both residents and visitors to Michigan. If you need help finding something, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@michiganfarmfun.com or at 616-952-1151. We’re happy to help.
