2016 Discover Michigan Farm Fun, Michigan's Agricultural Tourism Directory launches new, responsive website

June 6, 2016 (Lansing, Michigan)--The Michigan Agritourism Association released its 2016 directory featuring local agricultural products and engaging activities offered in every region of Michigan. A brand new, responsive website compliments the popular printed directory, making it easy to find local food and fun experiences on Michigan farms.

“It is exciting to see the number of people who are seeking these rural experience and making it a family tradition, planning a day or weekend trip annually,” said Beth Hubbard, Board President and owner of an agritourism farm in southwest Michigan. “We love seeing a second generation now bringing their children to experience what they did growing up.”

Formerly known as the Michigan Agritourism Directory, this 9th edition of the annual directory includes agritourism destinations, including u-pick farms, farm markets, petting zoos, farm stays, wineries, agricultural museums and more. This year’s directory suggests activities to match visitors interest areas: Connect with Your Heritage, Support Local Agriculture, Experience Farm-to-Table, and Enjoy Farm Family Fun.

The new website is also viewable on smartphones and tablets for searches by region, product or activity and includes a Trip Planner to create an itinerary with detailed directions to destinations throughout Michigan.

“The directory has been a beloved resource as far back as 1979, when it was first published by the Michigan Department of Agriculture,” said Janice Benson, executive director of the Michigan Agritourism Association. “Today, it continues to be recognized as one of the best places to find family-friendly, fun activities on Michigan farms. For many, it is a “must-have” resource as they travel around the state.”

The Michigan Apple Committee is the directory’s 2016 Print and Website Sponsor.

“The directory is a great way for us to support the growers we represent,” said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee. “The local businesses featured in the directory are providing valuable opportunities for a family fun experience while showing the importance of agriculture to our state."

The directory is also supported by Legacy Sponsor, Farm Bureau Insurance and Prrogram Sponsor, Chemical Bank.

Discover Michigan Farm Fun is available online at www.michiganfarmfun.com. Printed copies are also available at Farm Bureau Insurance offices, Michigan Welcome Centers, member locations and many Convention and Visitor Bureaus across the state.
