by Lorri Schreiber: Most of us know lavender for its purple color, fragrant scent and calming and relaxing effects. Did you know that lavender is also believed to offer several medical and therapeutic benefits? Here are just a few beliefs and ways to use lavender:
Lavender is believed to improve sleep by using a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow or in your diffuser. Some people even like having fresh-cut lavender on their nightstand for enhanced aromatherapy.
Reduce Stress and Anxiety
Because of its calming effect, lavender is believed to reduce stress snd anxiety.
There are many essential oils that are being used for dermatology purposes. Lavender oil is one of them and is known to ease inflammation and treat blemishes and possibly heal wounds. Its antioxidant qualities may offer benefits for fighting acne, eczema, dry skin, wrinkles and more.
Lavender candles and sprays may be used to repel mosquitos and other insects. It sounds like insects don’t like lavender as much as we do!
Some believe lavender oil can function as a pain reliever, especially for inflammatory diseases like arthritis and rheumatism.
